
Nigeria: Otukpo Bank Robbery: Benue Deputy Governor Visits Survivors, Offers Financial Assistance

The Deputy Governor of Benue State, Dr. Sam Ode, over the weekend visited survivors of Friday’s bloody bank robbery in Otukpo town and said the government is committed to bringing justice to the victims and arresting the perpetrators. I promised to do my best.
Gunmen armed with explosives and high-powered weapons attacked five commercial banks in the ancient capital on Friday afternoon, killing a number of people including the Otukpo District Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Otukpo City and three other police officers. Recall that a man was killed and chaos ensued in Otukpo town. , among other things, after which they carried away large sums of money.
The Lieutenant Governor accompanied state security leaders on the visit and also visited the incident site to assess the situation on the ground.
Dr. Mr. Ode announced his visit on his own verified social media pages and also offered financial support to all the attack survivors currently undergoing treatment at the Otukpo hospital.
The city-based deputy governor said in a message:
“I accompanied the heads of various security agencies comprising the Army, Police and DSS to express the government’s condolences to the families of all the victims of the sad incident.
“Similarly, I received medical treatment at various hospitals. Visited injured people and provided financial support.
“The government will do whatever is necessary to arrest criminals and bring them to speedy justice.”
