A 21-year-old mother, Esther Ojuko, was apprehended by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing her newborn baby girl in Sango-Ota.
The arrest followed the discovery of the baby’s decomposing body by residents of Oyede Avenue Plaza. The suspect is believed to have wrapped the live baby in a sack and disposed of her in a nearby compound.
The stench led residents to find the source, prompting one, Ogunmuyiwa, to report the incident to the Sango-Ota Police Division. The police suspect the mother may have been mentally unbalanced during the crime. State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest, stating that a full investigation is underway, and the deceased baby’s body has been deposited at Ifo General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
