Nigeria: NNPCL has recorded 72 illegal refineries in Nigeria Delta

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPCL) has reported 214 incidents of oil theft in the past week. During this period, 72 illegal refineries were discovered in the Niger Delta region, particularly in Rivers, Bayelsa, and Abia States. Additionally, 42 illegal oil connections and 26 cases of vandalism were uncovered. The NNPCL also found eight illegal storage sites and large oil pits in Isiokpo and Okrika, Rivers State. The report further states that 49 wooden boats carrying stolen crude oil were arrested and confiscated, along with cases of Vessel AIS infractions and vehicles transporting stolen crude oil. The NNPCL has apprehended 39 individuals involved in these illegal activities and remains committed to combating oil theft.
