Minna – The Niger State Police Command has arrested Joy Afekaffe, a 14-year-old domestic helper, in connection with the murder of Associate Professor Funmilola Adeforal of the Federal University of Technology, FUT, Minna, Niger State.

She was arrested in the Gbeganu area of ​​the state capital, Minna, on Monday following a preliminary investigation by the police.

A statement yesterday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect confessed to committing the murder with two other male friends.

The statement states: “During interrogation, the suspect confessed that she worked as the deceased’s housekeeper for about three weeks, but was fired due to misbehavior in the house.”

“After being discharged from the hospital, the suspect confessed that she worked as the deceased’s housekeeper for about three weeks, but that she was fired due to misbehavior in the house. He said he met his mates, told them about his ordeal, and conspired to rob the instructor at their apartment.

“At 4pm on October 28, 2023, they rode their bikes to the hostel and while the instructor was opening the gate, she appeared at the gate.

“Then Wallex and Smart came. “He then punched the deceased, hit him in the head with a table, and stabbed him with a knife that Worex had brought with him. Meanwhile, Smart retrieved another knife from the kitchen and stabbed him several times,” the statement continues. .

Abiodun said the suspects also removed the battery of a vehicle parked at the premises, adding that the deceased’s mobile phone and laptop were also taken from him as he fled the scene.

He said the suspects would be transferred to the SCID for further investigation and vigorous prosecution while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects who are on the run.
