In a significant development for the oil industry in Edo State, operators of the Oza oil field, Decklar Resources Inc., and co-venturer Millenium Oil & Gas Company Limited have successfully delivered a total of 75,500 barrels of crude to two modular refineries in the state. This milestone underscores the progress in the petroleum refining sub-sector and contributes to the growth of the local economy.

The two recipient refineries are the Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company (ERPC) facility located in Ologbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, and the Duport Midstream Company Limited (DMCL) facility situated in Egbokor, Orhionmwon Local Government Area. These refineries play a pivotal role in refining the supplied crude, contributing to the production of essential petroleum products.

Sanmi Famuyide, the Chief Executive Officer of Decklar Resources, emphasized that these deliveries are in line with contractual agreements with ERPC and DMCL for the supply of crude oil for refining purposes. The ongoing trucking of oil from the Oza Oil Field to these facilities signifies a sustained effort to meet the demands of the refineries and enhance their operational capacities.

Notably, ERPC is a 6,000 barrel per day (bpd) facility with the capability to produce diesel, Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO), and naptha, catering to both domestic consumption and international export. Its establishment was made possible through the strategic investment guarantee provided by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government in Edo State, facilitating the construction of the refining facility. The collaboration with Decklar Resources and Millennium Oil and Gas Company has played a crucial role in overcoming initial challenges related to crude supply.

On the other hand, DMCL, situated within the Duport Energy Park, boasts a modular refinery, a data center, a gas processing facility, and a power plant. The successful delivery of crude oil to DMCL contributes to its multifaceted operations, supporting various aspects of the energy sector.

This achievement marks a positive stride in the local oil and gas industry, showcasing the collaborative efforts between oil field operators and refineries. The commitment to fulfilling contractual obligations and the sustained deliveries further strengthen the energy landscape in Edo State, promoting economic growth and stability.

As the oil sector continues to evolve in the state, this development aligns with broader efforts to enhance local capacity, foster economic development, and contribute to the overall energy sustainability of the region.
