In a troubling incident, a 33-year-old man identified as Dominic Kenneth appeared before the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly causing grievous harm to his neighbour by removing his scrotum.

Kenneth, whose address remains undisclosed, stands accused of a single count charge of causing grievous harm and has pleaded not guilty to the accusation.

According to the Prosecutor, ASP Christian Okonofua, the incident occurred on March 1st, around 12:20 p.m., at No 1, Abdul Rasaq Street, Balogun area of Ikorodu. It was alleged that during a quarrel, Kenneth unlawfully inflicted severe harm on his neighbour, Mr Pascal Uche, by removing one of his scrotums.

The charge brought against Kenneth falls under Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. This section stipulates a potential punishment of seven years imprisonment if the accused is found guilty.

In light of the circumstances, the Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Onalaja, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned until March 14 for further proceedings.

This case underscores the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and the consequences of resorting to violence. It serves as a reminder of the need for communities to promote tolerance and dialogue in resolving disputes, rather than escalating conflicts to the point of physical harm.
