Musa Garba, 67, was detained by the Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on suspicion of molesting his 25-year-old daughter Ummi.

The News Organization of Nigeria detailed that Garba was captured close by his 50-year-old spouse, Aisha, at Tukur quarters in the Dutse Neighborhood Government Region of the state.

This is what Adamu Shehu, the Corps’ spokesperson, said in a statement on Wednesday in Dutse.

According to Shehu, the arrest was made in response to a report of a possible case of violence against a person filed with the Corps on May 26 by a human rights activist.

“The activist reported that he received information from the suspect’s neighbors that Ummi Garba, 25, was locked in a room within the house for many years,” he stated.

Despite her distressed, unkempt, and depressed appearance, the victim has been rescued.

“Her food was served on a bare floor like an animal in the room she was living in, which also served as her toilet.

“The suspect asserted that his girl was secured as a result of her psychological sickness, and traipsing around creating some issues in the area.”

According to Shehu, the suspect presented a hospital card from the Psychiatric Hospital, Kazaure, where she had been referred for treatment in 2013, 2014, and 2018.
