Tragedy struck today, Tuesday, in Ago, Okota District of Lagos State, where a pregnant woman and her two children were killed when a vehicle being chased by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA, collided with a tricycle.

The tricycle driver was also killed in this accident.

Witnesses reported that at the Okota roundabout one of his LASTMA police officers attempted to take over steering from the driver while driving his Toyota Sienna car.

The driver was charged with violating traffic rules.

The vehicle reportedly lost control and collided with a tricycle on Bayo Oyewale road.

The pregnant woman is said to have been taking her children to school when the tragedy occurred.

The incident sparked protests as an angry mob attacked LASTMA staff.

However, the timely intervention of the police team saved the officers from being lynched as the police fired tear gas canisters to disperse the mob.

Police also removed barricades set up by protesters on the street while taking away LASTMA officers.
