In a shocking incident that unfolded on Monday night, an unidentified official of the Lagos State government was reportedly abducted by hooded gunmen at his residence in Igbe-Oloja, Ikorodu. The harrowing event occurred around 9 p.m. as the man approached his home in Progressive Estate.
Having parked his car a few meters from his house, the victim called his wife to open the gate. As he approached, heavily armed gunmen intercepted him, leading to his abduction. The criminals reportedly fled through the nearby swampy area.
Referred to as “Jagaban” by those familiar with him, the victim holds a senior position in the Revenue Department at Government House, Alausa. Authorities have been alerted, and sources indicate that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N20 million for his release.
As police teams intensify efforts in the area to uncover leads for his rescue, government officials have visited the victim’s residence, engaging in discussions with his family. The Lagos State police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, acknowledged the kidnapping case but could not confirm the victim’s government affiliation.
