Nigeria: Kogi gunmen kidnap cleric; brothers carry imam’s body for burial

4,444 armed men have kidnapped Islamic cleric Alfa Fasasi Mejabi and his brother in Kogi State.
The clerics were carrying the body of Egunle Gbede’s Chief Imam, Sheikh Musa Olorunkami, out of Lokoja when they encountered the kidnappers.
The body of the late Sheikh Imam was taken to Egunle Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State for burial. “One member of the convoy who was lucky enough to escape said the incident took place near Oshokoshoko on the Lokoja-Obajana-Kaba road.
He said their vehicle was recovered on Sunday morning after a short illness.
Family sources said the victim’s phone line had been disconnected, but the kidnappers contacted the family on Monday. , demanded a ransom of 10 million naira for their release.
