Nigeria: Insecurity: CAC urges members to stop traveling in buses with church logos

The Church of Christ Apostolic (CAC) yesterday banned church members in the country from riding on buses displaying church branding.
The Church Secretary, His Reverend E. Mapour, has circulated this instruction to all his CAC regional heads and pastors in the country.
Vanguard learned that the circular comes in the wake of the recent kidnapping of 25 choir members of Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Oke Igan, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The victims were released after the church and their families paid a ransom of N50 million to the kidnappers.
They were abducted along the deplorable Owo-Ifon-Benin Expressway, which is notorious for kidnapping and armed robbery.
The members of the choir were abducted around 3pm while traveling to Ifon in Ose District of the state for a burial ceremony.
According to the circular, all church members are directed to seek the services of armed and mobile police officers if they wish to travel in their branded vehicles.
The paper states: “The frequency of kidnappings of church members, especially in branded cars and buses, has become a matter of concern for church authorities.
“The latest incident involves the Oke Igan chorus of Christ Apostolic Church, whose members were abducted in Ondo State. This is an incident related to the group.
“I hereby request all congregations of the Christian Apostolic Church that from now on all congregations/districts/zones/DCCs wishing to travel by their own branded buses/vehicles will be provided with the services of armed mobile police officers.
