In a heartening development, a 10-day-old abandoned infant was recently rescued by a compassionate Nigerian and subsequently handed over to the authorities, as reported by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin. The discovery took place on Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. behind a residence on Akindiya Street in the Agege area of Lagos.

According to Hundeyin, the altruistic citizen promptly brought the newborn to the Pen Cinema Police Division in Agege on Thursday at approximately 10:00 a.m. Subsequently, the infant has been placed under the care of the Juvenile/Woman Centre located in Alakara, Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos, with plans for eventual transfer to an orphanage home in Alausa, Ikeja. The ongoing investigation is focused on tracing the mother of the child.

This heartwarming tale underscores the significance of community involvement and empathy in ensuring the well-being of vulnerable members. The Lagos State Police, through their diligent efforts, are actively engaged in resolving this matter and bringing about a resolution that prioritizes the best interests of the child.
