Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted an unspecified number of workers from Dangote Cement Company Plc in Okpella, Etsako West local government of Edo state. The incident occurred when the workers were returning to the Okpella community after work in a coaster bus. The gunmen, who had laid an ambush, emerged from the bush and forced the bus to a halt at gunpoint. They then kidnapped the workers and fled into the bush, leaving some others with bullet wounds.

The exact number of workers kidnapped is currently unknown, as confirmed by a source within the Okpella community. Efforts to obtain confirmation from the police have been unsuccessful, as calls to the Commissioner of Police and the command spokesperson went unanswered.
