In the early hours of Tuesday, a tragic accident unfolded on the Oru Ijebu-Igbo Road in Ogun State, resulting in the loss of three lives and injuries to several others. An eyewitness, requesting anonymity, revealed that a learner driver’s miscalculation led to a collision between a Toyota Camry and a tricycle, claiming the life of the tricycle driver.
Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident, sharing that the Camry owner, teaching his wife to drive on the highway, fled the scene upon realizing the gravity of the accident. Akinbiyi explained that the woman, driving the vehicle, pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, colliding with the loaded tricycle.
Tragically, three individuals lost their lives, while three sustained injuries. The Camry was later vandalized and set ablaze by an angry mob. The incident raises concerns about safety practices and highlights the consequences of inappropriate driving behavior.
