Nigeria: Eid-El-Kabir: The Emir of Ilorin preaches unity and cautions against idolatry

Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs and Emir of Ilorin, has urged Ilorin Emirate residents to abstain from doing anything that is contrary to Islamic customs and practices.

In his Sallah message, the Emir issued the warning shortly after the two-Rakat prayer for the 2023 Eid-El-Kabir celebrations led by Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulhamid, the Imam Imale of Ilorin.

The Emir stated in his message that there should be no idolatry events held within the Ilorin Emirate. He also emphasized that those planning such events should think about other locations that are far away from the Ilorin Emirate.

He expressed, “Assembling at the Eid supplicating ground is to go along with me in performing strict commitments of saying thanks to All-powerful Allah for His various gifts on us and nothing that is against Islamic direction ought to be connected to it.”

In his written address, the Emir thanked Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Governor of Kwara State, for ensuring that the state’s peace and tranquility continued to thrive. He also urged the people to maintain their security awareness by remaining vigilant at all times.

“I thank Almighty Allah for increasing mutual understanding, the spirit of cooperation, and love among our people, especially among our leaders,” the monarch declared. I also thanked each Head security agent for diligently carrying out their official duties.

“I thank individuals of my Emirate for keeping up with the customary tranquil conjunction and congruity for which Ilorin Emirate is special and presumed. I’m utilizing this valuable chance to engage all Muslim dedicated to support their strict commitments of living respectively in harmony and amicability with individual people.

“They should not be involved in any action that can cause members of society to be disunited.”
