Nigeria: Edo Police Score Victory: Four Kidnappers Apprehended in Kano after Ransom Collection

In a significant breakthrough, the Edo State Police Command has successfully arrested four suspected kidnappers in Kano after they had collected ransom from their victims in Edo State. The arrested suspects, identified as Aminu Sadio (24), Umar Aminu (22), Adamu Abubakar (30), and Adamu Tahir (30), stand accused of kidnapping individuals in Fugar, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The arrest was executed by the Anti-kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit of the Edo State Police Command during an investigation into a reported kidnapping case. The incident, which took place on January 23, involved the alleged collection of ransom by the kidnappers through Union Bank and Moniepoint.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chidi Nwabuzor, intelligence-based investigation led to the arrest of Aminu Sadio and Umar Aminu, who were identified as the account owners that received the ransom. Additionally, the police apprehended Adamu Abubakar and Adamu Tahir, who were found to be accomplices in the kidnapping case.
Nwabuzor revealed, “Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested four suspected kidnappers in Kano after collecting ransom from their victims in Edo State.” He emphasized that the suspects, initially involved in the kidnapping in Fugar, were tracked down and apprehended in Kano State.
The police spokesperson further stated that an ongoing investigation would provide more insights into the case, and the suspects would soon be charged to court. The arrest of these individuals showcases the commitment of law enforcement to tackling kidnapping activities and ensuring justice for the victims.
This successful operation highlights the importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the utilization of intelligence-based strategies to combat criminal activities, especially in cases as sensitive as kidnapping.
