Dread has grasped individuals of Igarra, base camp of the Akoko-Edo Neighborhood Government Area of Edo State as five people have been apparently kidnapped by suspected herdsmen who have assumed control over the different ranch streets nearby.
This occurrence is coming scarcely multi week after a gathering from the area, the Okpameri Descendants Union, denounced the restored invasion by suspected kidnappers and bandits taking on the appearance of herders on the Igarra-Ibillo Street, particularly around Uneme-Nekhua – Ayetoro/Ogbe-Okpameri Intersection region of the street.
PUNCH Metro assembled that four individuals were captured on Wednesday while one was snatched on Tuesday.
Affirming the occurrence, a top commandant of the Vigilante Group who didn’t need his name on paper, said they had been searching the woodlands nearby for the people in question and their abductors.
He said, “They are simply picking individuals all over the place, particularly around ranch street behind the Specialized School inn and behind the Gloryland School in Igarra.
“They captured four individuals yesterday (Wednesday) and hijacked one the other day. They reached one of the groups of the people in question and they requested N12m. They have called just a single time and from that point forward, they have not called till now.
“About a week ago, they kidnapped four people near Aiyegunle, where they killed one person and kidnapped another on the same farm road, collecting N1 million before he was released.”
When reached, the Otaru of Igarra, Oba Adeche Saiki, approached the state government to uphold the restriction on open brushing in the state.
The state Police Advertising Official, Chidi Nwabuzor, said he had not gotten the report of the episode.
