Osariemen Patience, an indigene of Edo State, is preparing to attempt a 200-hour read-aloud marathon in order to set a Guinness World Record.

The marathon will take place at the Edo State Library from February 23 to March 3, 2024. Patience, a graduate of Maritime Engineering and a current final-year student in the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Biology, aims to inspire individuals to explore the world of literature, promote Benin literature and cultural heritage, and raise awareness about irregular migration, human trafficking, and climate change. The read-a-thon will cover various themes, including Benin’s history and cultural heritage, migration, human trafficking, climate change, and art sessions. Patience expressed her excitement and determination, stating that she hopes her efforts will inspire others to embrace the power of books and storytelling.
