Alleged 2014 Bomb Attacks Mastermind Pleads Not Guilty

Husseni Ismaila (aka Maitangaran), accused of orchestrating the 2014 multiple bomb attacks in Kano, was re-arraigned by the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The amended charge includes four counts related to his alleged involvement with Boko Haram and direct participation in the terrorist act. Ismaila pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The prosecution urged the court to proceed with the trial, while the defense argued against it, citing the prosecution’s non-compliance with a court order to transfer the defendant to Kuje Correctional Centre. The judge scheduled a ruling on the application to vary the order for January 25, 2024, and set February 7, 2024, for the continuation of the substantive matter.
