The FCT Command of the Nigerian Police Force has uncovered a disturbing case of deception involving a pregnant woman who orchestrated her own kidnapping, colluding with her boyfriend to extort a hefty ransom from her unsuspecting husband. The elaborate scheme, which saw the husband paying a ransom of N2 million for the release of his wife, has sent shockwaves through the community and highlighted the need for vigilance against such criminal acts.

The incident came to light when Chiedozie Ubah, a resident of Saburi II, Dei-dei in Abuja, reported to the Gwagwa division that his pregnant wife, Rosemary Ubah, had gone missing after leaving home for a medical appointment. Distressed and fearing for his wife’s safety, Mr. Ubah received a ransom demand of N2 million for her release, compelling him to comply with the demands of the supposed kidnappers.

However, as police investigation ensued, startling revelations emerged, pointing to a sinister plot hatched by the pregnant woman in collaboration with her boyfriend, Walter Ezeala, who resided in the same vicinity. It was uncovered that the duo conspired to fabricate the kidnapping, with Rosemary Ubah diverting a portion of the ransom money to her accomplice. The shocking betrayal of trust left authorities and the community reeling with disbelief.

FCT Police Commissioner, Benneth Igweh, condemned the brazen act of deception during a briefing, underscoring the need for swift and decisive action against such criminal behavior. The arrest of the perpetrators, coupled with the recovery of a significant portion of the ransom money, serves as a testament to the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combatting crime and ensuring justice for victims.

In a separate incident, the police apprehended Pascal Akuh, who had feigned his own kidnapping in a misguided attempt to test the affections of his intended spouse. Such reckless behavior not only wastes valuable police resources but also undermines the trust and security of the community. Commissioner Igweh urged residents to exercise caution and report suspected cases of kidnapping to the authorities before taking any rash actions, such as paying ransom.

Furthermore, the FCT Police Commissioner highlighted the swift response of officers in thwarting a robbery attempt, underscoring the importance of proactive policing in maintaining public safety. The apprehension of the suspects involved in the robbery underscores the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts in combating criminal activities within the region.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of these shocking events, it serves as a stark reminder of the prevalence of deceit and criminality in society. Vigilance, cooperation with law enforcement, and adherence to established protocols are essential in safeguarding against such nefarious acts and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
