Nigeria: Court Remands Ondo Tailor for Stealing Pot of Soup

The Ondo State Magistrate Court has taken a 19-year-old tailor, Adua Fatogun, into custody for allegedly stealing a pot of soup and other items worth N311,100. The incident, which occurred on October 12, 2023, at around 9 am on Ifeleye Street, Ayeyemi, Ondo town, involved the theft of property belonging to Felix Ogunbolade, Adeqoga Aboodun, and Akinsete Adurayemi.

Fatogun, who pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge of burglary and theft, was remanded to prison custody by the presiding magistrate, O. A. Omofolarin. The case has been adjourned to February 19, 2024, for trial.

According to the police prosecutor, Bernard Olagbayi, the charges against Fatogun contravene Sections 383, 412(1), and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State. He requested an adjournment to prepare witnesses for the trial.
