A fence in the Wuse Zone 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory collapsed along the Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, resulting in the deaths of two construction workers.

According to witnesses, the UBA Bank fence collapsed on the construction workers who were excavating the site in preparation for foundation work to begin.

Engineer Amiola Adebayo, Head of Operations for the FCT Federal Fire Service, confirmed the incident by stating that four of the six construction workers trapped under the fallen fence had been rescued alive, while two had died.

He added that the development laborers had neglected to raise a bank wall between the fell wall and the site of the continuous development, while completing the removal, making the wall fall on the specialists.

“We immediately mobilized our men here after receiving a distress call about a building collapse at the former site of Access Bank, Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent, Wuse 2, around 12 p.m. Four of the six trapped individuals were rescued alive, while two suffered fatal injuries. For treatment, they were all transported to the Asokoro General Hospital.

The building was being built, and the men who were working on the site were killed when the fence that was next to the main building collapsed. No dike or holding wall was presented while they were uncovering the site where the structure will be arranged, so the contiguous wall fell on top individuals that were chipping away at the site.”
