Nigeria: Chairman of the Benue Labour Party is killed by suspected herdsmen

Nathaniel Ochoche, the chairman of the Labour Party in Benue State’s Edikwun Council ward, was killed by what are thought to be herdsmen.

Edikwu Gathering ward is in Apa Neighborhood Government Region of the state.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Kengkeng Ati, the state’s Labour Party spokesperson, told our correspondent that the deceased was killed by suspected armed herdsmen in the Ankpali village of the Edikwu district of the local government.

Ati, who said that the occurrence occurred during the end of the week said the case was accounted for at the police headquarters in the nearby government.

“It is true that it occurred in his village, where herdsmen killed him by setting up an ambush by the roadside. The police have stated that they are monitoring the situation after receiving the report from the local police station.

Ati, who sentenced the killing spoke to security specialists to fish out the executioners.

Catherine Anene, the State command Police Public Relations Officer, denied knowing about the ward party leader’s death when contacted.
