A student of the University of Ilorin, Sanni Hamedat (20), reportedly committed suicide over unpaid debt of 500,000 naira from an online lending platform. According to sources who spoke to Vanguard on condition of anonymity on Wednesday,
Hamidat was pronounced dead at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
The deceased is said to have taken Sniper before the hostel porter called an ambulance and took him to the hospital.
Officials revealed that the cause of her death was not unrelated to the pressure from loan sharks who put pressure on her after she defaulted on her repayment plan.
