In the early hours of Thursday, bandits launched an attack in Pambara Extension, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, kidnapping Aondo Ver, a director in the Federal Housing Authority. The assailants, firing indiscriminately, created panic in the vicinity before escaping through the bushes with the abducted director. The incident occurred approximately 200 meters from a military base known as ‘camp.’ Despite the proximity to the base, the bandits managed to evade capture. Notably, the targeted area includes both civilian residents and military personnel, both serving and retired.

Residents expressed shock at the audacity of the attack, given the proximity of the estate to the military base. The FCT has witnessed a troubling increase in insecurity, causing heightened concerns among residents and authorities. Attempts to obtain comments from the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, and the FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
