Unidentified hoodlums launched an assault on the office of the Anambra State Vigilante in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area, on Thursday morning.

Reports indicate that the hoodlums, in large numbers, stormed the premises around 7 a.m., where they set fire to a middle-aged man found inside a vehicle belonging to the AVG operatives.

Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and the motive behind the attack is yet to be determined.

This development was confirmed by a circulating video on social media, which showed the vehicle engulfed in flames, with a voice heard calling for assistance from the state fire service.

State police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the attack, stating that while it occurred, comprehensive details are still pending.

“Yes, the attack took place, but we are still gathering information. Our officers are on-site to restore calm to the area. I will provide further updates soon,” Ikenga assured.
