Nigeria: Atiku, Makinde trade words over Ibadan explosion

By Zuleihat Owuiye, Mamos Nigeria

It seems that there has been a misunderstanding between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde regarding the January 30 explosion in Ibadan. Governor Makinde had stated that Atiku had not reached out or condoled with the government and people of Oyo State over the tragic incident. However, Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, clarified that Atiku did send a condolence message less than 24 hours after the explosion occurred.

It appears that there may have been a miscommunication or lack of awareness on the part of the governor. It’s important for leaders to communicate and work together, especially during times of crisis, to ensure the well-being of the affected community.
