In a distressing turn of events, popular Juju musician Omoba De Jombo Beats and his band members have reportedly fallen victim to kidnapping while en route to Kogi for a scheduled live performance. The unsettling news was shared through fellow musician Adeyinka Adeboye’s social media post, revealing that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N10 million for their release.
Expressing his concern on Instagram, Boyebest, as Adeyinka Adeboye is known, appealed for assistance, stating, “This is so scary. God have mercy. @omobadejumbobeats and his band members were kidnapped on their way to Kogi from Abuja for a performance yesterday. Please, we need help as the kidnappers are demanding a #10 million ransom for each person.”
When a Vanguard reporter visited Omoba De Jombo Beats’ studio in Abuja, the premises were found locked, and the musician’s Mercedes Benz with registration number RBC 268 SU was visible, but its tires were deflated. The unsettling discovery left neighbors, like Ezekiel Oladeji, shocked and worried, as they had last seen the musician loading equipment into his van on the previous Friday.
Despite these alarming reports, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, has denied the kidnapping allegations, stating, “No musician or musical band was kidnapped within the nation’s capital.”
Despite the police’s denial, the concern for the safety and swift return of Omoba De Jombo Beats and his band members looms large. Fans and fellow musicians nationwide and beyond are joining together in prayers for their safe return.
As investigations unfold, the music community and the public at large anxiously await updates on this distressing incident, hoping for a positive resolution to the situation.
