The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kwara State Command has confirmed that Babatunde Adekunle, a fraudster, has been arrested for stealing an elderly man’s ATM card and using it to withdraw N1.8 million from his account.

Adekunle was paraded by Umar Mohammed, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, along with six other suspects who were apprehended at Oloru in the state’s Moro Local Government Area with two trucks full of railway slippers.

Mohammed said Babatunde Adekunle, 41, was claimed to have deceitfully traded his ATM card with that of an elderly person at one of the ATM focuses in a bank in Ilorin.

“He allegedly withdrew N1.8 million from the account after swapping the card. He stated, “The commandant instructed the tracking unit to arrest him after the case was reported.”

Mohammed identified the suspects as Yunusa Bello, 41, Sanni Taminu, 35, Sanusi Lawal, 25, Alhaji Makeri, 33, Lukman Sanni, 32, and Olabode Johnson, 41, on the two trucks seized with railway slippers.

Umar thanked the good people of the state, the traditional rulers, and the state government for supporting him.

He reassured the public that the command would continue to collaborate with other sister agencies to protect state residents’ lives and property.
