In a heart-wrenching incident in Minna, Niger State, residents came to the rescue of a newborn baby boy, barely a day old, who was abandoned and left vulnerable to soldier ants. The infant, found in the Tayi area of Minna, was wrapped in leather, devoid of clothing, and covered in ants before being discovered on a Saturday evening.
Aliyu Bala Ibrahim, a resident, described the scene as tragic, emphasizing the need for strict penalties against those who commit such acts. The baby still had his umbilical cord attached, indicating he was born just a few hours before being callously abandoned without even basic care.
This unsettling event prompts reflection on the plight of abandoned infants and the urgency of addressing such distressing incidents with compassion and legal measures.
