National Security Council Inaugurated

The Gambian president His Excellency Adama Barrow has today inaugurated the National Security Council at the State House in Banjul.

The Security Council consists of the Interior Minster, heads of security units in the country such as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Gambia Armed Forces, the Director General of the State Intelligence Services (SIS), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Head of Gambia Navy, among other senior security chiefs in the country.

According to Interior minister Mai Ahmad Fatty on his face book page, the Council is an advisory body on the proper coordination and integration of plans and policies affecting national security.

“And as members of the council, our function also includes advising and assisting the President on national security,” he stated.
