Nafa Financial Service, SK Red Cross Link hold Islamic confab, iftar distribution

Nafa Financial Service in partnership with the Serekunda Red Cross Link last Sunday organized an Islamic Conference and free Iftar distribution to Muslims within the Kanifing Municipality.
The event, held at the Youth Monument in Westfield, attracted renowned Islamic scholars and several young people within the municipality.
The event was held on the theme- ‘Youth in Islamic and National Development’.
Speaking to journalists at the event, Pa Malick Saine, NAFA Financial business development officer, said the financial company sponsored the conference and free food distribution to muslims as part of fulfilling their social corporate responsibility.
The conference, he added, aims to bring Gambian youth to listen to Islamic scholars.
Omar Badjie, president for Serekunda Red Cross Link, said the humanitarian initiative is designed to support the less privileged people as well as those who could not reach their homes before break the fast.
“Westfield is a centre and breakfast met many people in the area. So, we deem it necessary to organize the free Iftar distribution here so that many benefit from it,” he said.
For his part, Oustash Musa Jallow of Tallinding, advised young people to utilise their youthful age positively.
He reminded them to avoid all unacceptable practice such as drug usage, and fornication.
“You should try to recite the holy Qur’an so that you do not regret if you become elders, because there are elders who cannot read the holy Qur’an and have regretted that now.” he preached.
He commended NAFA Financial Service and Gambia Red Cross Society for organising such an important Islamic Conference and free food distribution.
Aja Maimuna Savage, a renowned Islamic scholar, said for a woman to know her role in Islam, she has to recite the holy Qur’an and know the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
She reminded that women as mothers should understand the teachings of Islamic so that they can make their children have better understanding of the religion.
