LIBERIA –The Monrovia Football Academy (MFA) has disclosed that its 2017/2018 recruitment process for potential students will begin on Saturday June 24, 2017 at the Blue Field in the PHP Community.
The Football Academy is one of the many Academies operating in Liberia with a focus to build the talents of kids who love football.
With the enrollment of 47 students currently at the MFA, the kids are not only been thought the basic of football, they are also benefiting from the normal academic studies and life skills according to the Founder and Executive Director of the institution William Smith.
Speaking to reporters, Smith said the kids have impressed them on and off the pitch with good grades and tactics. He said the goal of the MFA is to produce talented students who will not only want to play football but be educated as well.
The MFA Founder disclosed that the academy will recruit 22 to 23 male and female players in the age range of 7-13 during the recruitment to add to the already 47 students for the next school year.
“We are looking for kids with potential and the determination to achieve as footballers,” Smith said.
The recruited students according to the MFA need to meet up with its five requirements in order to become eligible players for the academy, including achieving 50% or above during the entrance examination and the ability to play good football, be discipline, and as well be in the 3rd to 6th Grade.
The MFA founder said in order to create more awareness for the recruitment they have also post flyers on the various social media sites and on public buildings and fences in and around Monrovia to encourage parents to send their Children to the MFA.
He was quick to point out that successful applicants will participate in a one-week training camp in August, a normal week in classes, football training, and life skills, that will afford the Monrovia Football Academy a chance to be evaluated before the final selection is made.
The Monrovia Football Academy is believed to be the first school in Liberia to combine quality education with professional football development and starts from 3rd grade to 6th grade.
The institution has been operating in the West African nation since 2015 and has a target to develop the next George Weah and James Debbah of Liberia by 2020 says William Smith.
