Mayor Bensouda to build D10M market at Fajikunda

As the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) continues its meet the people tour across the metropolis, Talib Ahmed Bensouda, the mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) has announced the construction of a D10 million worth of modern market at Fajikunda.

Section 15 sub-sections 1 of the Local Government Act mandates heads of councils (mayors and chairpersons) to embark on meet the people tour annually in order to discuss with tax payers about the development of the municipality, constraints and way forward.

However, Mayor Bensouda is being accompanied by a high-powered delegation including directors of KMC.

Speaking at a meeting in Fajikunda, Bensouda said: “We have designed a project to build a ten million dalasi market in Fajikunda. It would contain over hundred shops and a children daycare.”

He noted that the council has already negotiated with the owner of the land where the market should be constructed, adding that the construction of the market will commence in the near future.

Moving forward, he assured the community that KMC will continue bringing more development to their doorsteps, citing their plans to also construct feeder roads, provision of solar light in the vicinity and ensuring more effective waste management in the locality.
