Kenya: 90 Kenyan schoolgirls infected with strange disease

Health authorities in Kenya are investigating an unknown illness after more than 90 schoolgirls were hospitalized.
The girls seem to have difficulty walking. In the video that went viral, a female student can be seen staggering as she walks.
Students at Elegi Girls’ High School in the western part of the country were experiencing difficulty walking and knee pain.
A senior Ministry of Education official who visited the school on Tuesday told concerned parents that the situation was under control.
He said classes would continue as normal for other students.
“The Department of Education, local government and the Department of Health are fully committed to ensuring that our children receive treatment,” said Regional Director of Education Jared Obiero.
Blood, urine and stool samples taken from sick students were sent to laboratories in the neighboring city of Kisumu and the capital Nairobi.
Final results to determine the cause of the illness are expected to be released later Wednesday. BBC
