The chief executive officer (CEO) of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agnecy (GIEPA) Assan Faal has been sacked.
According to information, Mr Faal was sacked on Tuesday following allegations that he allegedly impinged on the character of the president Adama Barrow. He was reportedly recorded by one of his friends. He was heard on tape alleging that there is a lot of backroom corruption deals taking place at the State House.
Mrs Naffie Barry, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, was said to have signed Mr Faal's sacking letter. The Board of GIEPA has also concurred with the Trade Ministry for Mr Faal to be fired.
However, staff of the agency have protested the sacking of their boss. They called for the reinstatement of their boss and wrote protest messages on placards such as; 'We want Assan'; 'If Assan goes we are not going to work'; 'We need Assan back', etc.
