Gambia national team, Scorpions, today took the exit gate after suffering a 2-1 defeat against Angola in Launda in a return leg following a previous 1-0 defeat on home ground last Friday.

All hopes for qualifying into the World Cup competition to be held in Qatar 2022 has been shattered after a double humiliation from the Antelopes of Angola within five days.

They arrived in Launda in the early hours of Sunday with low-key reception by Gambians in Angola.

Their latest defeat that gave the stingers their marching order by Angola in Luanda dashed out hopes of qualification for many sports enthusiasts and some fans alike.

Scorpion Head Coach, Tom Seinfeld last Friday vowed before waiting journalists in a post-match interview that he will turn the deficit in Launda.

Angola took the lead courtesy of Hermanengildo Bortolomeu in the 26th minute of the first half, before Assan Ceesay leveled the score line for The Gambia in the 37th minute.

Angola buried the match in the 80th minute through a rebounce courtesy of Fabio Abreu.
