Gambia police deny declaring Davido wanted

The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has denied the recently published media reports that the Nigerian music star Davido is wanted in The Gambia.

The Nigerian artist who has just concluded a visit to The Gambia shortly before the New Year was allegedly declared wanted by the Gambia police for an alleged assault of a Nigerian lady called Ayodeji Jaduda.

According to a report published by the Enquirer Magazine, Davido physically assaulted Ayodeji Jaduda, one of Gambia’s celebrity photographers by causing bodily harm (injuries) on her head and lips.

Media reports had earlier indicated that the young female fan had approached the Nigerian popular pop music singer, Davido for a selfie while the singer (Davido) was eating. It was further revealed the young lady decided to take few pictures of the artist before going closer to him and this move did not go down well with the Nigerian music singer, which resulted to him allegedly physically assaulting the young lady.

When contacted to shed light on the said issue, the police spokesperson )(PRO) Lamin Njie said: “I cannot ascertain if Davido was declared wanted by The Gambia Police Force. I also read it on the local newspapers that the Nigeria Popular pop star is wanted by The Gambia Police Force.”

He revealed that he had contacted Kololi Police Station where Davido’s case was said to have been reported but they said there is no such case.”
