Gambia – 3 Nigerian Judges appointed

Acting on the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission, President Adama Barrow has appointed three Nigerian nationals as Judges of High Court of The Gambia, a press statement from the office of the Chief Justice has confirmed yesterday.

The three judges are: Justice Babatunde Ademola Bakre- a High Judge at Ogun State, Nigeria, Justice Usman Alh. Musale- a High Judge at Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja and Justice Patience Oseyi Onajite-Kuejubola- a High Judge at Delta State.

The appointments, according to the press release are as a result of the request by the Government of The Gambia through the office of the Chief Justice of The Gambia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the deployment of serving Nigerian Judges to The Gambia on Technical Assistance.
The three judges are expected to assume duties on 1 June, 2018 to replace the three Nigerian Judges, whose contract appointments ended on 20 March 2018.
