22 Nov Fatal Road Crash in Niger Claims 17 Lives, Leaving 208 Injured, Confirms FRSC

A tragic incident unfolded at Takalafia village on the Yawuri Expressway in Niger State, claiming the lives of 17 individuals in a lone crash.
The mishap, investigated by the Federal Road Safety Corps, occurred around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, involving a red commercial DAF trailer driven by Idi Doba with the plate SRZ446XA. The crash, attributed to speed violation, resulted in the loss of control.
Among the 229 people on board, 206 male adults, one female adult, and one male child sustained injuries of varying degrees, while 17 male adults lost their lives. The injured were swiftly taken to Kantagora General Hospital for urgent medical attention, and the deceased were placed in the hospital’s mortuary. The FRSC Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, reiterated the warning against transporting passengers in trailers and haulage vehicles due to the inherent danger to lives, emphasizing the need for utmost caution on the roads.
