The Confederation of African Football (CAF) 2021 qualifiers proper will kick-off in November 13, 2019 following the completion of the plenary rounds of the AFCON 2021 qualifiers.
CAF made the announcements of the date over the weekend.
The continental body has released classic fixture and date for all the eight groups of four teams.
The Gambia is pitted in group D with DR Congo, Gabon and Angola whom the Scorpions rubbed shoulders with in their first match scheduled for November 13, 2019 at Estadio November 11 in Lawanda, Angola at 20:00 hours GMT.
The Scorpions will fly back to Banjul for their second match for the qualifiers at home against DR Congo scheduled for November 18, 2019 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
According to CAF, the qualifiers would resume in 2020 when the Scorpions of The Gambia will meet Gabon in the third match on August 31, 2020 in Libreville.
Three more matches would be at hand for the Scorpions; with the host, the Panthers of Gabon later in 2020, the Leopards of DR Congo and Angola’s Palancas Negras to be at the total AFCON 2021 in Cameroun.
Meanwhile, the Scorpions of The Gambia had all left Banjul including head coach Tom Saintfiet for their European bases for club duties after Gambia edged out Djibouti 3-2 on penalty shootout.
